What we do

#DoSomethingGreat

At Tailored Education, we pride ourselves in our ability to deliver comprehensive work experience programmes that help young people make the right choices and realise their potential.
We offer a range of core programmes and also flexibility for partners to create a bespoke programme to address the needs of their group.

By delivering stimulating and productive programmes, young people improve their learning, performance and life skills.

Delivered both in-school and on-location in professional environments, these learning opportunities can be essential for young people when taking their first step into the world of work and embarking on a successful, rewarding career.

Work Experience

Work experience placements provide a crucial opportunity for 11-16 year olds to develop soft and technical skills, while also building confidence within a professional working environment.

We place over 6,000 students per year in week long work experience opportunities from over 4,200 different employees.

We also offer extended work experience placements to re-engage students who are losing or have lost interest in school and are at risk of becoming not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET). This gives them the opportunity to work 1 to 2 days per week and learn practical skills on-the-job to help them re-engage with education.

Work Ready

Delivering specific and effective work readiness training to youth, such as communications, leadership, workplace safety and financial literacy.

Our programme prepares students to get, keep and excel in their first job. Through a series of workshops, we explore effective communication, problem solving, CV building and interview technique. The training also helps participants to develop good work habits that facilitate ongoing success. Delivered in school, the workshops typically include an industry speaker, role-playing exercises, group and one-on-one discussions.

Work Related Learning

Work-related learning is key to helping young people achieve a greater understanding of the world of work and the economy, allowing them to make more informed career choices and raise awareness of the employability skills needed to build successful careers.

Our workshops provide learners with real-life work experiences that complement academic instruction to develop the knowledge, skills and qualities that are directly applicable to the world of work.

STEM Training

Providing students with an interdisciplinary and applied approach to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning based on real-world applications.

We know there aren’t enough young people entering STEM professions, but research from EDF Energy predicts that jobs in STEM will rise at double the rate of other occupations between now and 2023, leading to the creation of 142,000 new jobs and 640,000 vacancies in these roles over the next six years.

Enterprise Education

Every year, we hold a range of enterprise events in schools designed to increase young people’s understanding of business concepts and how they can apply them. Interaction with mentors, businesses, a range of activities and competitions helps build confidence, employability and self-motivation.

Employability Skills

While there is no definitive list, Employability Skills can be defined as the transferable skills needed by an individual to make them ‘employable’. Along with good technical understanding and subject knowledge, employers often outline a set of skills that they want from an employee and these skills are what they believe will equip the employee to carry out their role to the best of their ability.

Our events look to develop communication,
teamwork, problem solving, initiative, enterprise, planning/organising, self management, learning and technology.
